VIDEO: Civil Police investigates kidnapping of bar owner in Vargem Grande; victim has not yet been found
The Maranhão Civil Police are investigating the kidnapping of Reinaldo Adriano de Carvalho, a bar owner in Vargem Grande, whose whereabouts remain unknown after being abducted by armed men.
The Maranhão Civil Police (PC-MA) are currently investigating the kidnapping of Reinaldo Adriano de Carvalho, a 46-year-old bar owner known locally as 'Loirinho do Carvão'. He was abducted on the night of Friday, the 20th, in Vargem Grande, which is located 178 km from São Luís. The abduction occurred around 11:30 PM when masked men entered the victim's bar, located in the São Francisco neighborhood, and forcibly took him away. The kidnappers used the victim's own vehicle, a white Fiat Uno, to flee the scene, which raises concerns about the perpetrators' planning.
Witness accounts describe a chaotic scene at the bar during the incident, as patrons were threatened and subdued by the armed assailants. Security footage captured the moment of the abduction, highlighting the brazen nature of the crime and the clear danger it poses to local businesses and the community at large. The police are seeking to analyze this footage further to identify the suspects.
Initial investigations suggest that three armed men were responsible for the kidnapping, and the police urge anyone with information to come forward. The fact that the victim has yet to be located underscores the severity of the situation and the urgent need for a swift response by law enforcement to address the rising concerns over safety in the area, especially for local business owners who may be vulnerable to similar crimes.
