Health Truck offers mammography and ultrasound in Manacapuru in the interior of Amazonas
The Health Truck has started providing free mammograms and ultrasounds in Manacapuru, Amazonas, from February 23 until March 15.
The municipality of Manacapuru in the interior of Amazonas is now hosting the Carreta da Saúde, a mobile health unit offering free mammography and ultrasound tests to its residents. This initiative, which began on February 23, will be available until March 15, and is stationed at the Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC) parking lot in the town center. This service aims to enhance access to essential health screenings for the local population, especially for women's health.
In addition to the newly arrived health truck, Manacapuru is already supported by another mobile unit that provides tomography services, affiliated with the local General Hospital. Meanwhile, another tomography truck is operational in the nearby municipality of Itacoatiara, which serves patients from the Regional Hospital José Mendes. This coordinated approach highlights efforts by the Secretaria de Estado de Saúde to expand medical services across the Amazon region, especially in more remote areas.
The screenings are available from Monday to Friday during specified hours, which illustrates the commitment to accessible healthcare. These initiatives are crucial in combating health disparities and ensuring that residents in lesser-served locations receive the medical attention they need, specifically for early detection of ailments such as breast cancer, which can significantly impact women's health outcomes.
