Boat Capsized and Remained Over Victims Who Died in Accident at the Border of MG and SP, Says Businessman

A boat accident at the border of Minas Gerais and São Paulo resulted in the deaths of six out of fifteen people aboard when the boat capsized and trapped the victims under it.

A tragic boating accident occurred at the border of Minas Gerais (MG) and São Paulo (SP), where a collision between a boat and a pier resulted in a fatal incident. Businessman Luís Ricardo Andrade, who was present at the scene, attempted to assist in rescuing the victims trapped under the capsized boat. He reported that the boat overturned and remained on top of the victims, making it impossible for them to escape. The chaotic situation posed significant challenges for first responders and onlookers trying to provide help.

According to Andrade, upon arriving at the scene, the boat was lying on its side in shallow water, complicating rescue efforts. He described a distressing scenario in which rescuers faced considerable difficulty accessing the interior of the capsized vessel—due to it being turned upside down and resting on the riverbed. The boat had created a pocket of air underneath, which may have offered a brief chance for survival, but ultimately it trapped the victims in precarious circumstances.

Reports indicate that of the fifteen individuals aboard the boat, six tragically drowned during the incident, highlighting the risks associated with recreational boating activities in the region, particularly during the night. The victims had reportedly been attempting to navigate to a nearby condominium when they lost their way. This incident raises serious concerns about safety regulations and emergency response preparedness surrounding water activities in Brazil, particularly at known accident-prone areas.
