Otepää is preparing to host the Biathlon World Cup stage from March 12-15, with over 200 athletes and teams from 32 countries expected.
Otepää is in the final stages of preparation for the Biathlon World Cup stage, which will take place at the Tehvandi Sports Center from March 12-15. The organizing team has ensured that the trails are in excellent condition and that seating for spectators is being constructed. With more than 200 athletes and approximately 300 team members from 32 countries expected to visit, the event is set to draw international attention.
The event will feature strong representations from top biathlon nations, including Norway, Sweden, Italy, Germany, and France. Additionally, smaller teams, such as Denmark’s, will also participate in the competition. A few weeks before the competition, technical preparations are on schedule, with officials confirming that there is an adequate snow supply and that the tracks will remain in good condition even if the winter ends abruptly. Extra seating capacity is also being erected to accommodate the expected influx of spectators.
Approximately 100 million viewers worldwide are anticipated to watch the event via television, with about 15,000 spectators expected to attend over the weekend. The excitement is high as local officials express confidence in a successful event that not only showcases athletic prowess but also stimulates local tourism and celebrates the winter sport culture in Estonia.
