Symphonic Orchestra of Sergipe opens slots for amateur choir
The Symphonic Orchestra of Sergipe is accepting applications for 40 slots in its Amateur Symphonic Choir across various vocal categories.
The Symphonic Orchestra of Sergipe (Orsse) has announced that it is opening registrations for 40 positions in its Amateur Symphonic Choir, seeking singers in the categories of Sopranos, Mezzo-sopranos, Contraltos, Tenors, Baritones, and Basses. This choir will participate in solo concerts as well as performances alongside the orchestra itself. According to Orsse, prior experience or musical reading skills are not required, making this an inclusive opportunity for potential singers. However, applicants must be at least 18 years old to qualify.
The application process is entirely online, with a registration form available until February 26. Following registration, candidates will need to audition on March 2 at the Teatro Tobias Barreto in Aracaju. The audition will include a brief aptitude test and the performance of a piece chosen by the applicant, either from popular or classical music, sung a capella. This initiative reflects the orchestra’s commitment to promoting music education and community involvement, as they provide free vocal training and music structuring lessons to new choir members.
This opening of slots in the amateur choir presents a unique opportunity for local residents to engage with the arts and develop their vocal talents under professional guidance. It also signifies the orchestra's role in enriching the cultural fabric of Sergipe, promoting not only individual growth among participants but also fostering a vibrant musical community in the region.
