Basketball Club 'Riga Zeļļi' Makes Changes to Coaching Staff
Basketball Club 'Riga Zeļļi' has announced changes in its coaching staff, appointing Dāvis Čoders as the new head coach.
As the decisive matches of the season approach, basketball club 'Riga Zeļļi' has made significant changes to its coaching staff. Following a mutual agreement, the club has parted ways with its previous head coach, Juris Umbraško. In his place, Dāvis Čoders, who has been with the team as an assistant since the club's inception in 2023, will now serve as the head coach. This decision underscores the club's intention to enhance its performance during critical stages of the season.
In addition to Čoders' appointment, the coaching staff has welcomed Raimonds Feldmanis, the notable coach of the Latvian 3x3 basketball team that triumphed at the Tokyo Olympic Games. This move indicates the club's strategy to bring in experienced professionals to improve its competitive edge. Čoders, prior to his coaching career, was a pivotal player for various age groups in the Latvian national youth teams, notably contributing to the historic bronze medal victory in the 2010 European U-18 Championship.
With a rich background in assisting established clubs like BK 'Ventspils' and 'VEF Rīga', as well as being part of the coaching team for the national men's basketball team under chief coach Sito Alonso, Čoders brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. His gratitude towards the former head coach for their collaborative efforts reflects a professional transition aimed at fostering continued growth and success for 'Riga Zeļļi' as they navigate the remainder of the season.
