National team coach Rozītis: We have options to choose from for three tough basketball games
Latvia's national basketball team coach Rozītis discusses the team’s preparations and depth ahead of three crucial qualification matches.
Latvia's national basketball team coach, Rozītis, emphasized the importance of careful management as the team prepares to play three games within a week for the European Championship qualifiers. He highlighted that both the conditions provided for the team and the support from medical staff and fitness coaches are exceptional, allowing for effective load balancing among the players. Rozītis pointed out that all three opposing teams will face similar conditions, which adds to the competitive nature of these fixtures.
The matches are scheduled against Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Estonia, with significant implications for Latvia's qualification prospects. Notably, the team will be without their usual captain, Anete Šteinberga, but Rozītis expressed confidence that the squad has sufficient depth to compensate for her absence. He stated, 'It’s good that we have a wide pool of players even with Anete [Šteinberga] missing, allowing us to select a competitive lineup for these challenging games.'
Looking ahead, Rozītis believes that this second window of qualifying matches will show improved quality, as the players have better familiarity with each other. This builds anticipation for a strong performance from the Latvian team, as they aim to solidify their standing in the qualifiers and showcase their talents against experienced opponents.
