Finnish driver returns to the World Championship series

Finnish driver Emil Lindholm has signed with Škoda for the WRC2 World Championship series, aiming to compete in several rallies this season.

Emil Lindholm, a 29-year-old Finnish rally driver, has officially signed a contract with Škoda to compete in the WRC2 World Championship series with Toksport WRT. This partnership has a strong history of successful collaboration, leading to notable achievements such as the WRC2 championship title in 2022. Lindholm expressed his confidence in the team's professionalism and quality, noting that the motivating environment at Toksport WRT enhances his performance as a driver.

Lindholm is confirmed to participate in at least five rallies for the upcoming season, with the potential to increase that number to seven as more events are finalized. Some of the certain competitions include rallies held in Croatia, the Canary Islands, and Finland. This indicates a strategic selection of venues that could leverage local strengths and fan engagement, as racing in his home country can significantly boost Lindholm's visibility and support.

A notable change for Lindholm this season will be the absence of his longtime co-driver Reeta Hämäläinen, who has taken on a new role within the team. This duo previously achieved great success, including the WRC2 championship title in 2022, and Hämäläinen's departure introduces a new dynamic for Lindholm as he prepares for the 2023 season. This shift might impact the performance metrics initially established during their partnership, but Lindholm remains optimistic about his new co-driver stepping in and maintaining a competitive edge.
