Parents oppose the closure of Baldone Primary School — will hold a protest
Parents of students at Baldone Primary School are organizing a protest against the planned closure by the Ķekava municipality, reiterating their stance that the school meets all necessary criteria to remain open.
Parents of Baldone Primary School have announced a protest scheduled for February 26 during a Ķekava municipality meeting, where they will express their opposition to the proposed closure of the school. The announcement came from Uldis Daube, chairman of the educational institution’s council, highlighting that the municipality is hastily pushing to close the school under the pretext of reforms, despite it meeting all the criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Science.
On January 22, parents were informed by the municipality about the decision to close Baldone Primary School. In response, the school's education council submitted an official request to halt the rushed closure process. Additionally, a petition to save the school garnered nearly 800 signatures on the platform 'Manabalss.lv', and the collective appeal was discussed during a municipal meeting, indicating strong community support for maintaining the school.
The parent's association also noted that a second session of the Baldone Primary School education council, school management, and Ķekava representatives took place on February 17. This ongoing engagement underscores the community's commitment to advocating for the school, as parents and local leaders rally to challenge the decision and ensure that Baldone Primary School remains a viable educational institution in the region.
