In a significant move towards sustainable transport, Madrid has approved plans for the largest public electric vehicle charging station located within the M-30. The site at number 276 on Paseo de la Castellana has been derelict for years, often used as a dumping ground for litter, but will soon be revitalized. This project is part of the city's broader strategy to promote renewable energy sources and reduce carbon emissions, responding to the growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure in urban areas.

The project has been awarded to Acciona, with an estimated capacity of 4,000 kilowatts across 19 ultra-fast charging points. The transformation of the current 1,281 square meter site is expected to begin imminently, with completion projected for mid-2027. Madrid’s Environment, Agriculture, and Interior Advisor, Carlos Novillo, visited the site to launch this initiative, highlighting the government's commitment to supporting green energy projects that align with the objectives of improving urban infrastructure and promoting electric mobility.
