FCT poll: INEC begins manual, electronic result collation at Kubwa centre
INEC has started the process of manually and electronically collating results at the Kubwa Registration Area Centre for the FCT Area Council Elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has initiated the manual and electronic collation of results at the Kubwa Registration Area Centre following the completion of voting in the FCT Area Council Elections. The process commenced at 6:15 PM, after Presiding Officers gathered at the LEA Primary School, Kubwa II, where they began entering the results onto the official form known as EC8A. This step is crucial in ensuring accurate reporting of the election outcomes, as it combines both manual and electronic methods for verification.
To guarantee consistency between the results uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing Portal and the physical records, the commission is utilizing a hybrid collation approach. Election officials have already used the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for initial results uploads from the polling units. The ongoing process will ensure that these electronically uploaded results adequately correspond with those recorded manually on the form EC8A, providing a comprehensive verification system.
The innovation of employing both electronic devices and traditional methods aims to enhance transparency and build trust in the electoral process. By ensuring that all results are collated accurately, INEC aims to mitigate potential discrepancies and maintain the integrity of the electoral outcomes for the FCT elections. This approach reflects an effort to modernize the electoral process while simultaneously adhering to traditional verification methods, which may comfort voters concerned about electoral integrity.
