Another suspect involved in the death of a young man executed by a gang is arrested in AC
A suspect involved in the murder of 21-year-old João Vitor da Silva Borges has been arrested in Acre, Brazil, as part of an ongoing police operation targeting gang-related violence.
In Acre, Brazil, law enforcement has apprehended another suspect linked to the murder of João Vitor da Silva Borges, a 21-year-old whose body was found in the Juruá River in March of last year. The arrest occurred during a police operation known as Protetor das Fronteiras, coordinated by the Special Operations Group at the borders (Gefron) in the town of Cruzeiro do Sul. The young man was reportedly executed by members of a criminal gang after he was involved in a confrontation with military police and had physically restrained another individual, actions that incited anger among the gang members.
To date, the investigation has led to the detention of at least 16 individuals connected to the case, with three of them already facing trial. This suggests a significant law enforcement effort to dismantle gang operations in the region, which has been plagued by violence and organized crime. The police have indicated that they are continuing their work to identify and arrest all individuals involved in this murder case.
In addition to the arrest related to Borges’ murder, another individual with an outstanding arrest warrant was also caught during the same operation in the Coab neighborhood, indicating a broader crackdown on crime in the area. The police, however, have not disclosed the identities of the suspects, and they are working to ensure that all known criminals are brought to justice as the community grapples with the challenges posed by organized crime.
