A significant exhibition showcasing classical modernism in Latvian art from 1911 to 1930 was inaugurated at the Liepāja Museum.

On February 20, a grand exhibition titled 'Classical Modernism in Latvia: Painting and Graphic Art: 1911–1930' was officially opened at the Liepāja Museum, located at Kūrmājas prospektā 16/18. The exhibition highlights one of the most vibrant and dynamic periods in the history of Latvian art, featuring an array of works that exemplify the innovative spirit of the early 20th century. Dace Kārkla, the director of the Liepāja Museum, expressed her gratitude towards the exhibition's curator, art historian Dace Lamberga, for her meticulous selection and description of this brilliant artistic phenomenon.

Kristiāns Brekte, the scenographer, has captured the unique atmosphere of the early 20th century, adding an additional layer to the exhibition's presentation. The exhibition is seen as a perfect fit for Liepāja, and Kārkla encourages everyone to experience this brilliant piece of Latvia's cultural heritage, which has been a long-cherished idea realized in collaboration with the 'Zuzeum' Art Museum and the Latvian National Museum of Art. Additionally, Gunārs Ansiņš, the chairman of the Liepāja City Council, emphasized that the exhibition creates an important cultural dialogue and showcases the rich history of Latvian modernism, enhancing the city's cultural landscape.
