Monday will have perfect skiing weather, says Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström

The second winter holiday week is set to begin with ideal skiing conditions across Finland, according to Yle meteorologist Anne Borgström.

As the second week of winter holidays begins, meteorologist Anne Borgström from Yle has confirmed that the weather will be perfect for skiing across Finland. Following overnight snowfall, which has blanketed the entire country, the precipitation is expected to move eastward by evening, leading to a notably colder night across Finland. Monday is forecasted to be sunny, with temperatures varying from -5 to -10 degrees Celsius throughout the day.

In southern Finland, temperatures during the night between Sunday and Monday are anticipated to dip to around -15 degrees Celsius, while in northern Lapland, the temperature may even plummet to -30 degrees Celsius. Borgström notes that the sunny conditions on Monday will provide a much-needed warming effect, steering the public's thoughts towards the approaching spring season.

Although the early week nights will be quite cold, the coldest night of the week is predicted to fall on Wednesday. During this time, temperatures in Southern Finland may also reach around -20 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, snow is anticipated to approach from the west, potentially bringing warmer air; however, Borgström indicates that the details surrounding Wednesday's precipitation are not yet fully predictable.
