BREAKING (Updated): APC wins Kuje chairmanship
The All Progressives Congress has secured the Kuje Area Council chairmanship with Danjuma Shekwolo winning the election.
The Kuje Area Council chairmanship election has been won by Danjuma Shekwolo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria. Shekwolo received a total of 17,269 votes, making him the candidate with the highest number of votes in the election. Following the official vote count, Returning Officer Prof. Nkiruka Odoh of the University of Abuja confirmed his election, stating that he met all legal requirements necessary for the position.
In this tightly contested election, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party, Zakwoyi Danlami, closely trailed Shekwolo with 15,824 votes, while Abdullahi Galadima of the All Progressive Grand Alliance garnered only 4,305 votes. This election result concludes the announcements of chairmanship winners across the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory, indicating a significant political shift and solidifying the APC's influence in this region.
The victory in Kuje is part of a broader success for the APC in recent local elections, as evidenced by the earlier victory of another APC candidate, Joshua Ishaku, who won the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election. These wins reflect the party's continuing stronghold within the Federal Capital Territory, deepening its political dominance amidst ongoing changes in Nigeria's political landscape.
