A friend brutally attacked a young woman in Kolkata, throwing her out of a moving car

In Kolkata, a young woman was reportedly assaulted by a friend inside a moving car, leading to his arrest after she filed a complaint with the police.

In a disturbing incident in Kolkata's Behala area, a 20-year-old woman was assaulted by her friend, Arnab Shaw, while traveling in a moving car. According to her complaint, the altercation escalated when the two were traveling along Diamond Harbour Road, resulting in Arnab allegedly confining her against her will inside the vehicle. The situation turned violent as he proceeded to physically assault her with kicks and punches while verbally abusing and threatening her.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 5:30 PM on Saturday, concluded with the woman being forcibly ejected from the car at Behala Chaurasta crossing. Following the complaint lodged by the victim, traffic police took action and stopped the vehicle involved, with registration number WB-38AE-3500, at the crossing of IDH Road and Banmali Naskar Road. The police apprehended the individuals in the car and subsequently handed them over to Behala police, who also confiscated the vehicle.

The accused, an 18-year-old male, has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 127(2), 115(2), 351(2), and 79. This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding violence against women and the effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing such issues promptly.
