Japan's piano "bomb" in Liepāja or "musical ramen" in the music of jazz pianist Hiromi
Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi will perform in Liepāja as part of an international festival, marking her return to Latvia after a decade.
Japanese jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara is set to perform at the 'Lielais dzintars' concert hall in Liepāja on March 7, as part of the 34th Liepāja International Star Festival. This performance marks her return to Latvia after previously captivating audiences at the 'Rīgas ritmi' festival in 2012, where her energetic and emotionally rich music greatly impressed the local audience. Fans can look forward to a dual showcase, with Hiromi presenting a solo program in the first part, and collaborating with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Guntis Kuzma in the second part.
During her previous visit to Latvia, Hiromi expressed her admiration for the country's natural beauty, the warmth of its people, and its delicious cuisine, highlighting her positive experiences that resonate with her music. Born in 1979 in Hamamatsu, Japan—a city known as the birthplace of major musical instrument brands such as Yamaha, Roland, and Kawai—Hiromi's journey as a pianist began early, and she has since earned acclaim for her dynamic performances that blend elements of jazz, classical, and pop. This upcoming concert is not only a celebration of her artistic talent but also an opportunity for Latvian audiences to reconnect with her music in a fresh context.
