The 'Kilograms of Culture 2025' award ceremony will be led by musicians Edgars and Emīls Kauperi, with winners announced on February 21.
On February 6, the voting for the final of the 'Kilograms of Culture 2025' award from the Latvian Public Media concluded. The winners of this cultural prize will be announced during a formal ceremony on the evening of February 21, which will be broadcast live on LTV1 and aired on LR1 and LR3 'Klasika'. This year's ceremony will be hosted by musicians Edgars and Emīls Kauperi, who are well-suited to lead an event honoring a multitude of cultural sectors since they each represent various categories.
Both Kauperi brothers are members of the band 'Carnival Youth,' reflecting the pop culture category, and they are involved in songwriting, encompassing music and literature. Moreover, they have roles in the Latvian National Theatre's production 'Rebellious Riga,' highlighting the theater sector. This marks their first time hosting such an event, and their familial background in the arts enhances their connection to this celebration of culture. Edgars is also a certified film director, while Emīls graduated from the Latvian Academy of Art, showcasing their diverse contributions to Latvia's cultural landscape.
