The Anchieta-Imigrantes System in Brazil recorded a 12% decrease in accidents during Carnival 2026 compared to the previous year. This period saw a total of 65 accidents, nine fewer than in 2025, with motorcycle falls accounting for a significant 34% of these incidents. Additionally, tail-end collisions followed, making up 29% of the occurrences. A total of over 400,000 vehicles traveled on the highways during the holiday, highlighting substantial traffic volume alongside the statistics.

Ecovias, the operator responsible for the Anchieta-Imigrantes System, noted a substantial reduction in incidents that involved victims. Specifically, reports of injuries fell from 49 to 36, representing a 22% decline, while the number of cases involving fatalities remained constant at two for both years. This decrease in accidents and injuries suggests that safety measures or increased awareness among drivers might be having a positive impact.

Operational responses during the holiday were also noteworthy, with a total of 1,759 services recorded. Among these, 1,033 were for mechanical assistance, further emphasizing the demand for roadside support amidst high traffic conditions.
