A federal judge ruled that 'boneless wings' can continue to be marketed as chicken wings, dismissing a lawsuit claiming the term is misleading.
In a notable ruling on February 17, U.S. District Judge John Tharp Jr. decided that the term 'boneless wings' is permissible for marketing the product at Buffalo Wild Wings. The lawsuit was initiated by customer Aimen Halim, who argued that he expected a traditional chicken wing with a bone rather than a meat product resembling a chicken nugget. The judge dismissed the claim by referencing an analogy from a recent Ohio Supreme Court decision regarding the labeling of chicken fingers, implying that no reasonable customer would confuse the two.
