Free surgeries for cleft lip and palate will be offered in Porto Velho from March 26 to 30 as part of an initiative by the Associação Operação Sorriso do Brasil in partnership with the government of Rondônia.
A collaborative initiative between the Associação Operação Sorriso do Brasil and the government of Rondônia will provide free medical services, particularly surgeries for individuals with cleft lip and palate, in Porto Velho from March 26 to 30. The program aims to ensure comprehensive care for patients, offering various health specialists, including pediatricians, plastic surgeons, speech therapists, nurses, and psychologists, to support the holistic needs of the patients.
Potential candidates for the surgeries must complete an online registration form to participate and then attend a screening event on March 26 at the Centro Universitário FIMCA. At this location, healthcare professionals will evaluate participants before selecting appropriate candidates for surgery. This initiative underscores the commitment to addressing healthcare disparities, particularly for underprivileged communities in the region.
Selected patients will receive surgical treatment at the Hospital de Base Dr. Ary Pinheiro from March 27 to 30, contributing to positive outcomes for those suffering from such conditions. This operation not only alleviates physical challenges faced by individuals but also aims to improve their psychological well-being and social integration, highlighting the importance of community health initiatives in Brazil.
