Explosives Found in Two States Amid Terror Attack Alert in Delhi

Security agencies have issued a high alert after IEDs were discovered in Punjab and Kashmir coinciding with a terror threat from Pakistan's Lashkar-e-Taiba targeting Delhi.

Security agencies in India have heightened alerts following the discovery of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Punjab and Kashmir. These finds come in the wake of a warning about a potential attack in Delhi from the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. Although officials have not directly linked these IEDs to the threats against Delhi, the timing and context of the discoveries have raised significant concern among security forces.

On Friday, a suspicious bag containing an IED was found near the Reya police post in Amritsar, Punjab. The local police quickly responded by calling bomb disposal squads to the scene. Amritsar's Senior Superintendent of Police, Soheil Qasim Meer, confirmed that the IED was safely neutralized without incident. This discovery adds to the heightened security in the region, with law enforcement working diligently to prevent any potential attacks from manifesting.

In a similar incident, another IED was found in the Safapora area of Ganderbal district in Kashmir on the same day. Personnel from the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir police efficiently responded to dismantle this threat within hours of its discovery. Notably, this represents the third IED recovery in North Kashmir within the same week, following previous discoveries on the Tangmarg Road and in Baramulla, underscoring an increasing trend in threats to regional security amid heightened vigilance in anticipation of further attacks.
