Metro: What changes from February 23 at the Syngrou Fix - Syntagma section
Athens' metro service will undergo changes starting February 23 due to ongoing replacement of tracks and installation of a 5G network, affecting night schedules and station operations.
The Athens metro is entering its fourth phase of track replacement and the installation of a 5G network, with work commencing on February 23 in the section between Syngrou Fix and Syntagma. As a result, there will be temporary traffic regulations implemented during nighttime hours. On Sunday, February 22, however, the Line 2 services will operate normally throughout the day without any nighttime interruptions.
Notably, starting February 23, the stations at Syntagma (Line 2), Acropolis, and Syngrou Fix will close at 21:40 from Sunday to Thursday, two and a half hours earlier than usual. The Syntagma station will remain open for Line 3, which serves the route from Dimotiko Theatro to Dukissis Plakentias and the airport. Additional adjustments to the schedule include modified services on Line 2 during construction hours, limiting train operations between Anthoupoli–Panepistimio and Neos Kosmos–Elliniko.
These changes aim to facilitate the ongoing construction work, aiming to enhance the infrastructure and connectivity of Athens' transportation system. The introduction of a 5G network is expected to improve passenger communication and operational efficiency, ensuring a smoother travel experience in the long term.
