Video shows plane hitting the ground on emergency landing in Campinas (SP)

A twin-engine plane experienced a malfunction during an emergency landing at Campos dos Amarais Airport in Campinas, Brazil, but did not result in any injuries.

A twin-engine aircraft faced complications during an emergency landing at Campos dos Amarais Airport in Campinas, SP, on Wednesday afternoon, leading to an incident where the plane's nose gear struck the ground. The pilot, flying solo, reported a bird strike upon takeoff and subsequently declared an emergency due to a landing gear failure. Fortunately, no passengers or crew were injured in the incident.

The emergency situation unfolded around 2:55 PM, approximately 50 minutes after takeoff when the aircraft had to return due to the complications. The airport operator, Rede VOA, stated that the airplane took off from the same location before encountering the critical issues. Fire department teams were strategically positioned on the runway to assist in case of an emergency during the landing process.

Footage from surveillance cameras at the airport captured the plane's approach, revealing that while the landing gear was visibly deployed, it ultimately touched down only on the rear wheels. The plane continued along the runway for about 30 seconds, which could have posed additional risks, highlighting the importance of aircraft maintenance and thorough pre-flight safety checks in aviation operations.
