Small plane skids off runway upon landing at airport in Jundiaí, SP
A small aircraft skidded off the runway while landing at Jundiaí airport in São Paulo, Brazil, but no injuries were reported.
On Sunday morning, a small aircraft, a Cessna Citation 550, overshot the runway while landing at Jundiaí airport in São Paulo. The incident occurred shortly after the plane took off from Bragança Paulista, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The pilot managed to exit the aircraft safely, as confirmed by the operating company, Rede Voa.
Rede Voa disclosed that the aircraft left the runway and collided with an embankment at the entrance to one of the hangars. Following the incident, the SERIPA IV, an investigative body under CENIPA responsible for aviation oversight in the state of São Paulo, was dispatched to the site. They were assisted by the airport’s operational control center, which coordinated initial support efforts, including firefighters.
This incident highlights the importance of safety protocols at regional airports as the authorities conduct investigations to understand the causes of the mishap. Although no injuries occurred, it raises questions about potential operational improvements necessary to prevent such occurrences in the future, especially in busy aviation locales like São Paulo.
