Thawing can threaten basins at Nordic Waste
Randers Municipality is taking preventive measures at Nordic Waste due to expected thawing and large amounts of snow in the area.
Randers Municipality is implementing preventive measures at Nordic Waste as they anticipate a thaw and significant snowfall in the area. The local government has issued a press release highlighting concerns about the basins at Nordic Waste being nearly full, raising the possibility that melting snow could pose a problem due to potential overflow.
To mitigate this risk, the municipality is preparing the reserve basin in Assentoft to be ready to receive surface water from Nordic Waste. This reserve basin is designed with a membrane to protect both groundwater and drinking water, emphasizing the municipality's commitment to public safety and environmental protection.
Municipal Director Jesper Kaas Schmidt stated in the press release that the municipality finds itself in a proactive situation, necessitating measures to stay ahead of potential flooding risks. The situation underscores the importance of preparedness in local governance as climatic conditions fluctuate with seasonal changes.
