On Saturday, with the wind strengthening, a slight snowfall is expected
Latvia is anticipating a slight snowfall on Saturday as winds strengthen, with temperatures dropping significantly at night.
Over the coming 24 hours, a moderately strong southwest wind will shift to the south, with gusts expected to reach 10-15 meters per second, and up to 18 meters per second along the western coast of Kurzeme during the night and morning. The skies will be partly cloudy with no significant precipitation anticipated, although localized light snowfall is expected to begin on Saturday evening from the west of the country.
Nighttime temperatures are forecasted to drop to between -6 and -12 degrees Celsius, with the western coast of Kurzeme expected to see temperatures as low as -2 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, maximum temperatures will range from 0 to -4 degrees Celsius. In Riga, no precipitation is expected on February 21, and the sun will be visible intermittently through the clouds. Nighttime temperatures are expected to plunge to around -7 degrees Celsius, while daytime gusts from the south are forecasted to reach up to 13 meters per second with temperatures increasing slightly to around -2 degrees Celsius.
This weather forecast suggests that while there will be a slight thaw during the day, residents should prepare for cold nighttime temperatures and potential light snowfall over the weekend. The shifting winds and varying temperatures could impact outdoor activities and traffic conditions, particularly in areas expecting stronger gusts and snowfall, warranting caution for travelers and residents alike.
