Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, Nigeria, has recently approved a significant scholarship programme amounting to N12.9 billion meant to sponsor 54 local students in the field of aeronautics and engineering at Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management. This initiative highlights the state's commitment to advancing education and providing opportunities in specialized sectors like aerospace, which are crucial for the development of the region.

The scholarship covers a comprehensive training programme that includes various engineering disciplines such as Aerospace Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering, and Systems Engineering. The Governor's office confirmed that the programme will also include basic pilot training, enabling participants not only to receive degrees but also to gain essential certifications that could lead to professional careers in aeronautics and technology.

At a recent event held in Maiduguri, Governor Zulum presented a cheque of N2.5 billion to cover the first year's tuition and extra costs for the scholarship recipients, indicating a structured support plan over a five-year period. Zulum emphasized the importance of education and urged beneficiaries to remain dedicated to their studies, signaling the government's forward-thinking approach to enhancing the skillset of its youth and ultimately contributing to local and national development.
