Estonian freestyle skier Henry Sildaru secured a spot in the final of the Milano Cortina Olympics snowboard qualification with a third-best score after a tense start.

Henry Sildaru, representing Estonia in freestyle skiing, achieved a commendable third-place finish in the qualification rounds for the snowboard event at the Milano Cortina Olympics, securing his place in the evening finals. After facing difficulties during his first run, Sildaru rebounded strongly in his second, scoring an impressive 88.00 points. He expressed the pressure he felt before making his second attempt and highlighted the importance of landing his jumps correctly to ensure his place in the final.

In a post-attempt interview with ERR, Sildaru acknowledged the nerves he experienced before his second attempt, noting that the challenge was to execute the jump with the right body position for a proper landing. He elaborated that during his first run, he struggled with body weight distribution, which caused him to lose control and ultimately get thrown off his skis. However, he expressed relief after successfully completing the second run, indicating that the tension had eased once he secured his final berth.

Looking ahead to the finals, Sildaru mentioned his intention to improve his performance further, conveying confidence in his ability to bring in more complex jumps. He noted that the adjustments made in the second run were strategic, aimed at simplifying his final jump to maximize his efficiency. With a positive mindset, he is committed to pushing his limits in the final rounds, opening opportunities for an even better showcase of his skills at the Olympics.
