Henry Sildaru Limited to Qualification in Park Skiing
Freestyle skier Henry Sildaru finished 21st in the park skiing qualification at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
Henry Sildaru, an Estonian freestyle skier, faced a challenging qualification round for park skiing at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, ultimately finishing in 21st place out of 28 competitors. Sildaru started his first run strongly but made a critical error on the landing, which led to a score of 43.05 points, placing him 16th at that point. Unfortunately, his second attempt ended in a fall, resulting in only 21.70 points, which contributed to his overall ranking of 21st.
In the qualification event, twelve of the best athletes advanced to the finals, with the last spot secured by Swiss skier Kim Gubser, who scored 64.10 points. The top three spots in the qualification were dominated by Norwegian athletes, with Birk Ruud leading the pack at 81.75 points, followed by Tormod Frostad and Swedish skier Jesper Tjader. The reigning Olympic champion, American Alex Hall, finished eighth with a score of 71.63 points, highlighting the competitive field.
The finals are set to take place on Tuesday, February 10, showcasing the talents of the top athletes who have advanced through the qualification rounds. Despite his performance, Sildaru will look to gain experience from this event as he continues to navigate the challenges of competitive freestyle skiing on an Olympic stage.
