All cities in Bahia have a potential danger alert for intense rains issued by Inmet
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) has issued a yellow alert for intense rains in all cities of Bahia, valid until Friday night.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) announced a yellow alert for intense rainfall across all 417 municipalities in Bahia, Brazil, effective from the early hours of Friday, October 20, and lasting until 11:59 PM the same day. This alert warns of the possibility of up to 50 mm of rain, accompanied by low risks of power outages, falling branches, flooding, and lightning strikes. In addition to the yellow alert, 54 municipalities have been placed under an orange alert, indicating a higher level of danger where up to 100 mm of rain is expected. This section of the state primarily includes areas in the northern and western parts of Bahia, emphasizing the potential for serious weather impacts in those regions. The recent heavy rains on Thursday led to flooding in several cities including Vitória da Conquista, Serrinha, Cruz das Almas, Catu, Santana, Barra, and Ichu. As the weather continues, residents are urged to take precautions against flooding and electrical hazards, given the warnings issued by Inmet regarding the prevailing conditions in the state.
