Buyeo County expands chicken farming into Uzbekistan following rice cultivation

Buyeo County in South Korea is implementing a modern agricultural model in Uzbekistan by combining rice farming with a smart chicken farm.

Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea, announced on the 20th that it will start a cutting-edge agricultural model called the 'Goodtrae Circular Agriculture Model' in Namangan Province, Uzbekistan. The project involves establishing a smart chicken farm integrated with rice farming that aims to transfer chicken farming technology to local farmers. The by-products from the chicken farm will be converted into organic fertilizers using modern composting facilities and supplied to the rice farming area, thereby creating a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

The initiative is spearheaded by Buyeo County's Agricultural Policy Division, Agricultural Technology Center, and the smart poultry specialist company, Buyeo Guryong Farm, led by CEO Jung-chan Lee. They will send experts to provide direct training on circular agriculture practices to local farmers. The products cultivated through this circular model are expected to be marketed as high-value items in Central Asia under Buyeo's brand, Goodtrae, which adheres to strict quality control measures.

Previously, Buyeo County has been active in enhancing agricultural cooperation, having developed a 60-hectare rice cultivation area in the Mingblock district of Namangan Province, with plans to cultivate 10 hectares as a high-quality seed production site this year. Educational exchanges between the farmers from both regions are ongoing, with recent training sessions focused on rice farming and water management. Buyeo Mayor Park Jong-hyun expressed hopes that the initiative would not only promote the excellence of Korean agriculture globally but also contribute to the agricultural development of Uzbekistan, establishing a foothold for Goodtrae brand products in the Central Asian market.
