'Job is Done': Evidence Leads Police to Suspect in Jewelry Theft in the South Zone of SP
Police have arrested Igor Jesus Matos, 29, suspected of stealing over R$ 1 million worth of jewelry in São Paulo, based on evidence found on his mobile phone.
Igor Jesus Matos, a 29-year-old man, has been apprehended by police following evidence discovered on his mobile phone that implicated him in the theft of a jewelry store in São Paulo's South Zone, resulting in losses exceeding R$ 1 million. This incident occurred early on Monday morning, and Matos was detained on Thursday, the 19th, after authorities linked him to the crime through his vehicle being parked in the vicinity of where the criminal getaway vehicles were abandoned.
The police investigation revealed that the vehicles used in the theft were abandoned near the home of another suspect involved in the crime. As a result, the São Paulo court authorized a temporary arrest for Matos, which is effective for five days but can be extended for an equal duration. The police are working diligently to piece together the details surrounding the crime, actively seeking any additional suspects connected to the robbery.
Matos' actions drew the attention of law enforcement when he reportedly began filming the police officers who were investigating the crime, raising suspicion about his involvement. As the case unfolds, the defense attorney representing Matos has yet to issue a statement regarding his arrest or the charges against him, leaving many questions about the defense's strategy and the future implications of this case on security in the region.
