MEC reveals payment schedule for Pé-de-Meia for 2026

The Brazilian Ministry of Education has announced the payment schedule for the Pé-de-Meia program aimed at supporting public high school students and adult education.

On Thursday, the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) announced the payment calendar for the Pé-de-Meia program for the year 2026. This initiative is designed to assist high school students in public schools and those enrolled in the Education of Young Adults (EJA), provided they are registered in the government’s single social program database, known as CadÚnico. To qualify for monthly payment installments, students must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 80% in their classes.

Students who meet these criteria will receive BRL 200 monthly, along with additional funds related to their registration. High school students will receive payments in nine installments throughout the academic year, with those who successfully advance to the next grade eligible for a one-time bonus of BRL 1,000, which can only be accessed upon completing their high school education. For EJA students, the program outlines four payments throughout their enrollment.

Additionally, both regular high school and EJA students who participate in the National High School Exam (Enem) are expected to benefit from these financial aids, reflecting the government’s efforts to promote educational engagement and support for vulnerable student populations in Brazil, especially following the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on education access and quality.
