The registrations for the Pé-de-Meia Licenciatures program, initiated by Brazil's Ministry of Education (MEC) to provide a monthly incentive of R$ 1,050 for graduating teachers, have been delayed from their original start date of February 17. This decision was made after prospective applicants encountered unexpected announcements about the postponement when trying to access the official platform. The MEC did not provide any prior notifications regarding this change, leading to confusion among candidates.

The new registration date was officially announced in the Diário Oficial da União on February 19, clarifying that applications would now be open from February 20 until December 19, 2026. This extended timeline allows prospective students more time to apply for the program. However, the MEC has stipulated that there will be no retroactive payment for those who delay filling out their registration forms, which means that benefits will only be disbursed starting from the month of application submission.

This program aims to support students in their journey to becoming educators, addressing the existing shortage of qualified teachers in Brazil.
