Operation 2 Wheels addresses more than 300 vehicles in São João da Barra
The Federal Highway Police conducted an operation addressing over 300 vehicles in São João da Barra during Carnival 2026.
The Brazilian Federal Highway Police (PRF) conducted 'Operation 2 Wheels' from February 13 to 18, targeting motorcycle safety during the peak Carnival season. More than 300 vehicles were addressed in São João da Barra, in the Noroeste Fluminense region, emphasizing the importance of surveillance as the number of vehicles typically increases during this festive period. The operation was strategically managed along BR-356 with the aim of preventing accidents and reducing infractions.
During this enforcement effort, the PRF reported a total of 210 infractions recorded across various violations. Furthermore, 55 vehicles were impounded for failing to meet legal traffic requirements. This focused approach not only aimed at law enforcement but also at educating drivers regarding compliance with traffic regulations, particularly the heightened risks associated with the increase in motorcycle use during Carnival festivities.
The overarching goal of Operation 2 Wheels is to enhance road safety on federal highways amidst the Carnival celebrations, a time well-known for accidents due to the rise in vehicle and motorcycle traffic. Such crackdowns during peak periods are essential for ensuring that motorists are held accountable and that the roads remain as safe as possible for both participants of the Carnival and the general public.
