During the Carnival holiday from February 14 to 17, ECU 911 responded to 1,309 emergency calls in Esmeraldas, with a majority related to citizen safety.

ECU 911, through its coordination in Esmeraldas and in collaboration with first-response institutions, managed a total of 1,309 emergencies across the province's seven cantons during the recent Carnival holiday period from February 14 to 17. According to official reports, the highest incidence was in citizen safety, accounting for 1,032 emergencies, which makes up 78.8% of the overall total. The cantons with the highest number of reported incidents were Esmeraldas with 637 emergencies, Atacames with 227, and QuinindΓ© with 211. Additional reports highlighted the need for police patrols in requested sectors, with 267 cases logged, and several incidents involving violations, such as 158 related to drinking in public places and 129 cases requiring police searches. This influx of emergency calls during a festive period reflects both the challenges and the demands on emergency services in maintaining public safety.

The response from ECU 911 not only showcases the high volume of incidents during major holidays but also raises discussions about community safety measures and the resources available to local authorities. As the region continues to plan for future events, understanding these patterns becomes critical for improving response times and coordination among emergency agencies.
