Neighborhoods of Santarém face water shortages after leak and emergency maintenance
Residents of several neighborhoods in Santarém, Brazil, are experiencing water shortages and low pressure due to a leak in the distribution network that is being repaired.
Residents in the neighborhoods of Aeroporto Velho, Diamantino, and Jardim Santarém in Santarém, located in the west of Pará, have been facing issues with water supply and low pressure since Wednesday, the 18th of October. According to a statement from the Companhia de Saneamento do Pará, the problems are attributed to a leak in the distribution network, which is currently under repair by technical teams.
In addition to addressing the leak, the company also reported it is conducting emergency electrical maintenance on one of the wells supplying the area after it suffered damage from external parties. They anticipate that the maintenance work on the well will be completed by Thursday, the 19th, and that the normalization of water supply will occur gradually throughout the day as issues are resolved.
The Companhia de Saneamento do Pará has encouraged residents to reach out for additional information through local contact numbers, signaling their commitment to keeping the community informed during this disruption. As the water supply is an essential service, the swift response and maintenance efforts by the company are critical to restoring normalcy for the affected neighborhoods in Santarém.
