The competition for the head of the Department of Customs was won by the deputy head Ž. Rudaitienė

Žanetą Rudaitienė has been recognized as the winner of the competition for the head of the Department of Customs in Lithuania, pending final security clearance.

Žanetą Rudaitienė has been acknowledged as the winner of the competition to become the head of Lithuania's Department of Customs, but her official appointment is contingent upon the receipt of necessary security clearances from various institutions. The confirmation of Rudaitienė as the leading candidate came from the Customs department itself after a panel meeting, which highlighted her as the top scorer in the selection process.

The selection for this position was initiated by the Ministry of Finance last December, and currently, the department is being temporarily led by Vygantas Poigozinas. Kristupas Vaitiekūnas, the Minister of Finance, will have the final authority to appoint the new head of Customs. The tenure for the general director of the Customs department is set for five years, indicating the significance and stability associated with this role.

Rudaitienė brings extensive experience from her tenure in the police system, where she served in various capacities, including as a criminal investigator and eventually as the head of the Operations Analysis and Control Division of the Police Department. Her career progression reflects a strong background in law enforcement, making her a fitting candidate for leading the Customs department, especially at a time when customs operations are increasingly critical for national security and trade regulation.
