Singer-songwriter Park Ki-young Appointed as Professor at Dongduk Women's University Department of Practical Music
Singer-songwriter Park Ki-young has been appointed as a professor at Dongduk Women's University starting from the 2026 academic year.
Park Ki-young, a well-known singer-songwriter, has been officially appointed as a professor in the Department of Practical Music at Dongduk Women's University, a significant achievement announced by her management firm, Eliya Company, on the 19th. This appointment marks the first instance of a faculty member being appointed without a master's degree since the establishment of the College of Performing Arts at the university. Park, who debuted in 1998 and has released a total of eight studio albums, has extended her career beyond singing to become a lyricist, composer, and producer, showcasing her musical talent through performances and broadcasts.
In her statement regarding the new role, Park expressed her excitement about working with younger artists and emphasized her intention to help them realize their potential. She highlighted her commitment to remaining actively involved in music outside the classroom by continuing to release albums and host performances, aiming to serve as a role model for her students. Parkβs educational background includes her graduation from Seoul Arts University, and she has gained teaching experience as an invited professor at Baekseok Arts University since 2021.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, Park Ki-young has formed a new jazz band called 'Park Ki-young Jazz Messenger' and is set to hold a concert titled 'Easy Jazz and Classic' on the 28th of this month at KBS Ulsan Hall. This concert, along with her ongoing work on a new album, demonstrates her active engagement in the jazz genre, marking a new chapter in her diverse music career and her dedication to both teaching and performing.
