Edo Command calls for police, film makers’ collaboration
The Edo State Police Command is advocating for increased collaboration with filmmakers to boost the morale of police officers through cinematic representations.
Eno Ikoedem, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, has emphasized the need for a stronger partnership between law enforcement and the film industry in Nigeria. During a script conference for the upcoming movie 'Beyond Duty' held in Benin, she expressed optimism that such collaborations can help highlight the challenging yet commendable roles of police officers across the country. Ikoedem believes that films can serve not just as entertainment, but also as a motivational tool for hardworking officers in the face of societal challenges.
Ikoedem articulated her belief that the entertainment industry has a significant role to play in fostering a positive narrative around the police force. She highlighted the immense effort put in by officers who often go unrecognized for their selflessness, particularly those on the front lines. By creating films that celebrate their work and dedication, there is a potential to enhance the public perception of the police and uplift the spirits of officers who might feel undervalued in their roles.
Zack Orji, a noted actor and director, corroborated the sentiments shared by Ikoedem, pointing to a longstanding history of collaboration between the police and the film sector. Their joint efforts aim to create narratives that not only entertain but also advocate for the police's contributions to society. As the film 'Beyond Duty' prepares to launch, it is anticipated that it will resonate with audiences while also serving as a morale booster for law enforcement personnel.
