600 suspected drug offenders arrested in Bayelsa – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Bayelsa State has arrested 600 suspected drug offenders and seized over 621 kilograms of illicit drugs in 2025.

State Commander Kanu Chukwuemeka announced during a press briefing that the arrests involved 407 males and 193 females, highlighting the extensive nature of the undercover operations, patrols, and raids conducted across various locations associated with drug trafficking including bars, hotels, and transport routes.

Chukwuemeka emphasized that these efforts were part of a broader strategy to reduce both the supply of and demand for narcotics in the state. The successful operations included a series of undercover initiatives which he noted were crucial in identifying and apprehending suspects. The reported quantity of illicit drugs seized during these operations amounted to 621.556 kilograms, indicating a substantial volume of narcotics removed from circulation.
