K. Kyranakis: By the end of summer, critical security systems will be fully installed on the Athens - Thessaloniki line
Greece's Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, announced the launch of a new digital application for real-time tracking of trains, which will be available next week.
Konstantinos Kyranakis, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in Greece, recently disclosed the launch of a new digital platform, railway.gov.gr, aimed at enhancing train travel safety and efficiency. This platform will enable citizens to monitor the location of trains in real-time, thereby providing timely updates and significant improvements in navigation and scheduling accuracy across the train network. The application is part of a broader initiative to modernize Greece's railway system significantly.
The application is designed to provide high-precision tracking of train locations, which is a critical step toward an integrated and smarter rail network. According to Kyranakis, this new system will complement an already operational central monitoring system that alerts authorities to any deviations or potential issues with train operations. This proactive approach aims to enhance passenger safety while also optimizing the railway management's response to operational mishaps, thus promoting a safer travel experience for users.
In addition to the digital upgrades, Kyranakis stressed the ongoing work to finish European-certified safety projects on the pivotal Athens-Thessaloniki railway line. These advancements form part of Greece's strategic efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure, not only to improve service but to align with European standards for safety and efficiency in rail transport.
