Drivers face delays returning to São Paulo after Carnival; SEE

Drivers are experiencing significant traffic congestion returning to São Paulo after the Carnival holiday, particularly on key highways.

On Ash Wednesday, following the Carnival celebrations, drivers are facing heavy traffic jams on the Anchieta-Imigrantes system as they return to São Paulo. According to the concessionaire Ecovias Imigrantes, significant slowdowns have been reported on both the Anchieta and Imigrantes highways due to the high volume of vehicles. Specifically, congestion was noted from kilometer 50 to 55 on the Anchieta highway, and from 50 to 59 on the Imigrantes highway, both heading towards the capital.

In addition to the major highways, slow traffic has also been observed on the Cônego Domênico Rangoni highway, with delays between kilometers 248 and 253, attributed to an accident affecting traffic heading towards São Paulo. The Padre Manoel da Nóbrega highway also reported congestion between kilometers 271 and 274, although the cause of the delays on this route has yet to be disclosed by authorities. As the post-Carnival traffic surge continues, authorities suggest that drivers remain informed about road conditions before embarking on their journeys.

The Anchieta-Imigrantes system is known for high traffic volumes during holiday periods, and congestion following festivals like Carnival is a common occurrence. The state of São Paulo often sees an influx of holidaymakers returning to the city after major celebrations, leading to significant delays. This year's post-Carnival traffic seems particularly affected, highlighting the importance of traffic management and communication in handling peak travel times.
