Driver of a car got into an unusual predicament
A driver in Helsinki became trapped when their foot got caught in the car door after an incident involving a collision with a heated pole.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Helsinki Fire Department responded to an unusual call where an individual was trapped in a precarious situation on Merikorttitie. The alarm was raised when it was reported that a driver's foot had become wedged between the door of their car and the vehicle itself. According to on-call firefighter Kari Ursin, the driver had slid the car into place after colliding with a heating pole in a parking area, leaving the door ajar and the foot partially outside the vehicle. When the emergency services arrived, they found that the driver was unable to free themselves from the situation. The response team was able to extricate the foot by repositioning the car, effectively relieving the pressure. Fortunately, the driver was transferred to receive further medical treatment. Ursin indicated that the individual likely sustained at least some superficial injuries as a result of the incident. The emergency call about the accident was logged around 2:15 PM, highlighting the need for timely interventions in unusual accidents such as this, where quick action by the fire department was crucial to ensure the driver's safety and health.
