Employees suspected of bribery at SL are said to have received millions
Several employees at Stockholm's traffic administration are under investigation for allegedly accepting large bribes worth around 15 million kronor.
Last week, reports emerged about multiple individuals suspected of bribery related to Stockholm public transport. Four individuals have been detained, with three of them identified as employees of the Stockholm Region's traffic administration, also known as SL. Prosecutor Arne Fors confirmed the details to SVT Nyheter, highlighting the serious nature of the allegations against the public employees involved.
The investigation suggests that the suspected individuals collectively accepted approximately 15 million kronor in bribes. This revelation raises significant concerns regarding the integrity of operations within public transport management in Stockholm. The case has attracted considerable media attention, underlining the implications of corruption in public procurement processes.
In addition to the detained employees, a businessman has also been jailed on suspicions of paying out money through his company to secure contracts as a subcontractor for a firm under agreement with SL. This indicates a broader scheme that could implicate multiple parties and reflects on the necessity for transparent and accountable business practices in public sector dealings.
