Safe weighing half a ton with R$ 1 million in gold and diamond jewelry stolen from a jewelry store serving influencers in SP

A jewelry store in São Paulo was robbed of a half-ton safe containing R$ 1 million worth of gold and diamond jewelry, with that robbery taking place in the early morning hours.

In a brazen theft, a jewelry store located in a prime area of Moema, São Paulo, was robbed early Monday morning. The safe stolen weighs nearly half a ton and contained approximately R$ 1 million worth of gold and diamond jewelry, including earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants, chains, and bracelets, all intended for a clientele of digital influencers. Notably, the stolen items were uninsured, raising concerns over the financial loss for the business.

The robbery involved a meticulously planned execution; thieves managed to disable several security cameras by covering them with tape and stole additional monitoring equipment before breaking into the store. They then forced open the doors of three rooms within the jewelry establishment to access the vault. Following the crime, the suspects made their escape through the building's basement, leaving law enforcement with limited immediate information about the number of perpetrators involved.

The Civil Police of São Paulo are conducting an investigation into the theft, focusing on analyzing video footage from the surveillance cameras that were not compromised. The incident highlights growing concerns regarding security in affluent neighborhoods as well as the risks faced by businesses catering to high-profile clients, especially in the digital influencer space.
