Driver dies and 22 tourists from MG are injured after tour bus crashes into tree on BR-262, in ES
A driver died and 22 tourists from Minas Gerais were injured when their tour bus crashed into a tree on the BR-262 road in Brazil.
A tragic accident occurred on the BR-262 in Marechal Floriano, EspΓrito Santo, where a tour bus carrying 35 passengers from Minas Gerais collided with a tree. The incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, October 17th, resulting in the death of the bus driver, Wesley Brostel, and injuries to 22 passengers. Videos captured by witnesses provided a harrowing depiction of the crash and the subsequent chaos. Initially trapped in the wreckage, Brostel was rescued but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.
Among the injured, five passengers were reported in more serious condition, while the majority of the remaining 17 had been discharged by Wednesday morning. The bus was en route back to Belo Horizonte and Betim after a trip to Guarapari. Notably, Wesley Brostel was not only the driver but also the owner of both the vehicle and the travel agency responsible for the excursion, which adds a layer of tragedy to the incident. The bus contained his wife and three children, who were all close to the driver's seat and among those receiving medical attention.
This incident raises concerns about road safety and the protocols for tour operators in Brazil, particularly how they ensure the safety of their passengers. As investigations continue, families of those involved are left to cope with the aftermath of this horrific crash, while authorities may reevaluate regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
