HS poll: Record result for the Left Alliance
The latest poll by Helsingin Sanomat shows that the Left Alliance has achieved its highest support ever, while the ruling Kokoomus party has seen a drop in support.
A recent poll conducted by Helsingin Sanomat reveals significant shifts in Finnish political support. The Kokoomus party, which won the last parliamentary elections, has seen its support fall below 17.9%, marking its lowest point during the current government term. This decline reflects a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the previous poll, suggesting growing dissatisfaction among the electorate with the ruling party's performance.
In contrast, the opposition party SDP has maintained a strong lead with a steady support level of 25.1%, which remains unchanged from earlier surveys. This consistency in support could indicate that despite various controversies faced by the party, particularly a harassment scandal, SDP's voter base is holding firm. Additionally, the earlier optimism indicated by Yle's February survey seems to have dampened, as SDP's potential for growth appears limited.
Notably, the Left Alliance has recorded an unprecedented level of support at 10.4%, marking the highest rating since it began to be measured 15 years ago. This remarkable achievement might illustrate shifting political sentiments among Finnish voters, signaling a potential realignment in party support landscapes as the nation approaches future elections.
