'El Tuntun' falls, member of Los Gastones, after allegedly murdering a young man in Xochimilco

A suspect known as 'El Tuntun', allegedly a member of the criminal group Los Gastones, was arrested in Mexico City after being involved in the shooting death of a 19-year-old.

The police of the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) in Mexico City arrested two men suspected of murdering a young man in Xochimilco. One of the detainees, identified as Jonathan Agustín Matías 'N', known as 'El Tuntun', is reportedly affiliated with the criminal organization known as Los Gastones. This arrest is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on violent crime in the area, which has seen an uptick in gang-related activities.

The incident began when police received reports of a shooting near the intersection of Vicente Guerrero and Boulevard de Las Tres Luces in the Paraje Zacapa neighborhood. Upon arrival, they met with a 19-year-old victim who provided details of the event. He explained that he was visiting a friend's house when several armed men entered the premises, resulting in a chaotic situation where he and another young man attempted to take cover. Tragically, the assailants targeted them directly, resulting in the young man's death.

Authorities are continuing their investigation beyond this incident to gather more evidence and potentially apprehend additional individuals involved in this violent act. The murder highlights the challenges Mexico City faces with gang violence, as organized crime continues to affect public safety and communities.
